"Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me." (Ps 119:133 ESV)

The psalmist here makes two requests of God. First, he asks that God would give him a sense of balance and direction for where he goes and what he does as has been promised to him. He then goes on to ask God that sin or anything displeasing to God would not rule his life. He wants God and only God to have complete control of all aspects of his life. This prayer is one that we should always be praying. We must get our direction from God everyday. When we start the day we should seek the face of God and ask Him to order our day. As we go through out the day we should continue to seek His wisdom, His will, His protection and His security. This is what walking with God is. We are to continually look to the face of God and ask what, do you want me to do? How do you want me to do it? What direction do you want me to go? How do you want me to get there? When we get Gods direction in the little things and we get His help in the daily small, everyday things then we are not afraid and we are able to walk confidently down the long road that He has chosen for us. When we follow our Lord in this way, we will want nothing to do with sin and evil. We will want only God and Him alone and He will be enough. It is only as we pray both parts of this prayer will we experience stability, growth and a good-godly life.
